Rule Changes 4th July 2025
Rule Update – Effective July 4, 2025 In response to numerous suggestions and feedback from the majority of the BO3 Easter Egg speedrunning community, we are implementing the following changes:
In-game round timers are no longer permitted in runs recorded after July 4, 2025.
All Black Ops 3 Easter Egg runs will now use RTA (Real Time Attack) timing. This means the timer continues running during pauses, and the final time is measured from the first frame of player control to the final frame of the run. Existing runs on the leaderboard that include pauses will not be retimed, as the community has agreed these runs remain fair and beatable.
For details on what is allowed when creating a patch or mod for Black Ops 3—and how to verify it with us—please refer to the following document: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1zxkrULGK61aj3CZfVwIsDTT2zt9tR_cqyGqAtp8pPLw/edit?usp=sharing
For players submitting BO4 runs using the Project BO4 client, the following requirements are now in effect: Submissions must be recorded using version 1.0.19.1 or later of the client.
The developers have introduced features that help verify the integrity of game files.
To enable this feature (if not already set up), follow these steps: Go to Shield Options → Misc Settings Enable “Show checksum for GSC/CSC”
This must be done before starting your game, and requires a one-time restart of the client.
This setting allows visual confirmation that no GSC/CSC files have been modified—modifying these files is against community rules.
Additionally, Default Settings must be clearly shown prior to the start of the game, unless the recording begins from the executable launch screen. This ensures no gameplay-altering settings have been applied (similar to Custom Mutations enforcement).
Navigate to: Options → Edit Game Rules → Reset To Default → Reset All If the video starts from the .exe launch, this check is not required.
