Regarding the Twitch Changes

Hello everyone,

As hopefully everyone knows, Twitch is making significant changes to its highlighting system on April 19th. The main change being the implementation of a 100-hour storage limit for highlights. Considering full gameplay is required for record submissions, this will affect a large portion of the highlights we link to on the ZWR website.

As much as we would like to back up every record recorded from Twitch, it is an impossible task given the amount of manpower and the time window allotted.

The development team has been working extremely hard to back up as much as possible. The development team has estimated that is should be possible to back up full gameplay of all High Round, First Room, and Easter Egg Speedrun World Records (Including all subrecords) streamed/recorded on Twitch for the following titles:

  • Call of Duty: Black Ops
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 2
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 3
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 4
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 6
  • Call of Duty: World at War
  • Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare
  • Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
  • Call of Duty: WWII

This is roughly 1500 videos some of which are over 30 hours long, Literal terabytes of video.

Sadly, this doesn't even scratch the surface of the amount of twitch videos linked on our website. This is where members of the community come in. Please help us by transferring your own Twitch videos to Youtube, or some sort of personal storage device for the time being. We also ask that once you have finished transferring your own videos, you start transferring videos of other important games that may not be saved already. Thanks to people like ZiO and Zenii many have already been saved. We ask the community to help us save as many records as possible.

Having links to these videos is vital, but many have asked how they will be replaced on the site. The development team has started making a Link Replacement Request feature on the website. This feature will allow anybody with the gameplay to request that link(s) be replaced. This feature may not be fully operational and released before April 19th, but it should become available some time shortly after. Please be patient in the meantime, the new Youtube links will always be available, but the old Twitch gameplay may not be.

Unfortunately, some records will be lost. For a significant time after, enough to transfer as many links as possible, all records will remain up. After this we will be removing records which no longer meet the full gameplay requirements of the site. We understand this is not easy, and we bear the burden just as much as you do, if not more. We are trying our best to accommodate as many players as possible while also being realistic. Suffice to say we are not perfect.

We want to take time to listen to your feedback, answer questions, and maybe come up with some alternate ideas as well. To do this, Zappa and Steve will be in the Undead-Hangout voice channel on Saturday March 15 from 1-3PM EST. There, we will have an informal discussion about Twitch, and ZWR in general. If you can't make it to the discussion, please feel free to ask questions in the general-chat in the ZWR discord, and we will try to answer it as soon as possible.

Thanks again for your patience and understanding. Together as a community we will be able to get through this.
